Our journey began in 1981 when Rhodney and Cassandra Lloyd signed a contract to market, install and service commercial restaurant equipment for Winston Industries of Louisville, Kentucky. Winston Industries manufacturers specialty food service equipment for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Wendy's, and Burger King.
OUR HISTORY:
Lloyd-Ewing, Lloyd & Company was created in 1981 to service our exclusive contract to represent Winston Industries for the Maryland, Virginia and Delaware markets for all franchise restaurants for three fast-food restaurant chains, and GSA Contracts. The Lloyds operated as equipment dealers and wholesale distributors through 1987, servicing 30 KFC restaurants, 106 Wendy's, and 35 Burger King franchisee operations.
In 1987 Lloyd-Ewing, Lloyd & Company launched Chick N' Friends, a unique, limited menu chicken and fish concept, based on the infrastructure of successful fast-food operators with technology-based operating systems. The key to the success of the Chick N' Friends menu concept is the operating infrastructure, proprietary seasonings, and network of U.S. manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors.
CHICK N' FRIENDS BRAND EXPANSION:
Rhodney Lloyd, now in his 40th year of building a family food service enterprise, is now well-positioned to launch and operate a technology-based training center for food service workers and aspiring restaurant entrepreneurs. Rhodney has extensive expertise in technology-based operating systems after installing and servicing commercial restaurant systems for the three major fast food restaurant chains in the world, and also developing and launching the Chick N Friends menu concept, now recognized as number 35 on the list of "The 45 best Fried Chicken Restaurants in America".
THE FOOD SERVICE SKILLS INSTITUTE, INC:
The Lloyds have organized "The Food Service Skills Institute, Inc." as a non-profit company focused on selecting, educating, hiring and training youth and Military Veterans in the restaurant and hospitality industries. The Company is currently filing for 501(c)(3) and will be soliciting donations, investors, affiliates, and collaborators in the opening and launching of "Chick N' Friends Technology Training Academy" in Columbia, Maryland.
The Lloyd Family's restaurant enterprise offers extensive expertise in both the retail and wholesale distribution sectors of the industry.
With the elimination and minimization of dine-in restaurant services, the industry has been forced to implement cost-saving and labor saving strategies, including down-sizing facilities requirements for quick-service, take-out, and delivery services. Technology has taken a front seat in digitizing restaurant operations in order to minimize staffing and associated labor costs, as well as optimize operating margins with enhanced operating and production efficiencies.
Manufacturers of commercial restaurant equipment and supplies have also been impacted with both material costs and labor shortages, also forced to re-tool and restructure to meet new demands for select growth segments of the restaurant industry.
The good news is that the restaurant industry is on the rebound, with high growth in select segments that continue to show double-digit growth through 2022. With that in mind our mission includes engaging, selecting, hiring, training, retaining and placing youth and Military Veterans and their families in compatible career opportunities throughout the hospitality industry.
ALL MAJOR FRIED CHICKEN MENU CONCEPTS ARE EXPERIENCING DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH THROUGHOUT 2022.
Our Solution offers restaurant owners and operators a resource of educated and trained professionals. Chick N' Friends Technology Training Academy's mission is to address the needs of restaurant operators for well qualified and trained employees, as well as offering candidates' jobs, career and business opportunities.
